Anya Taylor-Joy’s Golden Globes look just stole the show (as did that bold, anti-Gen-Z side-parting)

Being awarded the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Miniseries or Motion Picture for her incredible portrayal of Beth Harmon in The Queen’s Gambit is no doubt Anya Taylor-Joy‘s most major achievement tonight, but she also had a series of other excellent – albeit comparatively trivial – wins.

Let us begin with the dress. The DRESS.

Custom Dior Haute Couture, the exquisite gown was undoubtedly one of the stand-out sartorial moments of the night.

Emerald green, powerfully plunging at the neckline and complete with a separate cape, this Maria Grazia Chiuri-designed number was every inch the red carpet show-stopper.

Another real success was the jewellery that Anya’s stylist Law Roach pulled together for the look.

A casual Tiffany & Co. offering reportedly worth more than $1 million (specifically $1,500,000 earrings, a $195,000 necklace, and a $130,000 ring) if you could bear to avert your eyes from the dress for a brief minute you’ll no doubt have swooned over these one-off pieces.

But the slightly more subtle success of the night when it came to Anya’s aesthetic came courtesy of her hair stylist, Gregory Russell.

Not only were her icy blonde locks infinitely sleeker than we could ever hope to make ours, but she was also sporting a particularly punchy side-parting. For anyone keeping up with the TikTok trends, this was a major ‘millennial’ move.

Having taken a swipe at many ‘millennial traits’ over recent weeks (including wearing skinny jeans and using the ‘smile’ emoji), Gen Z took it upon themselves to officially #cancel side partings.

A new hilarious TikTok trend has seen Gen Z declare side partings “old” and “out of touch”, with one creator addressing the issue while challenging followers: “prove me wrong, but I don’t think there is a single person who looks better with a side part than they do a middle part.”

As 24-year-old Anya straddles the very precarious line between the two generations, we rate her standing her ground with that side parting.

And for what it’s worth, we’re into it. But we’re millennial, so that probably goes without saying…
