How different British Muslim women are celebrating Eid-ul-Adha this year

“I’m looking forward to spending Eid this year with both my family and my in-laws. My family  have moved to Birmingham so we’ll be spending Eid morning there and the evening with my husband’s family! My mum makes a delicious chicken and potato roast, enjoyed with freshly boiled rice and salads and chutneys. Sweet vermicelli is an Eid treat for a lot of South Asian families, so I am looking forward to that! My husband is Bengali, and my in-laws cook up a storm with their traditional dishes – kachi biryanis, roasts and sandesh – a dessert made from milk and sugar. My must-have beauty product at the moment is Tropic’s Ocean Dive Pore Clearing Serum, which has really cleared my skin from blemishes and evened out my complexion, so I’ll definitely be reaching for that on Eid day.”

“For me, Eid is all about reconnecting with my family and friends. Decorating the house for the occasion really helps me get into a festive mood ahead of the occasion and like many other Muslims, we always dress up in new clothes. We start our day at the mosque for the congregational Eid prayer, followed by a delicious breakfast spread of traditional sweets and desserts. We then exchange Eid gifts and visit extended family. This is most definitely the most exciting part for my children because they are showered with gifts and Eidi money. We’ll then go out and enjoy the sun, spending quality time with loved ones. It is an opportunity for everyone to forgo their daily routine and come together for festivities.

“Putting together my Eid look is one of my favourite parts of the day! This Eid, I’ll be using Trinny London Eyetallics for certain – the formulas are insane and sure to make my eyes sparkle.”

“We’ll start the day by going to the mosque for Eid prayer. It’s the best way to start the celebrations with the whole community and a chance to see old and new faces. This Eid, I’ll also be celebrating with an intimate family picnic in the park with lots of fun outdoor games as Eid overlaps with my youngest child’s birthday. As well as this, I will be donating money to charity, exchanging gifts with loved ones and dressing up of course! We’ll be eating lots of yummy food like Eid biscuits which I’m really looking forward to. They’re a delicious, crumbly sweet biscuit that I love.”
