There’s very little that gets us more excited than updating our footwear collection, especially when it comes to the best winter boots for women. The good news? The season for doing such is nearly upon us, and, let’s face it, while the cold months give us less daylight, there’s still a lot to relish in throughout autumn/winter – our outfits and shoe choices included.
The best winter boots for women can (already) be found in many different incarnations this year, but which trends are set to be huge for 2023, and – more importantly – which will stand the test of time? After all, a good winter boot isn’t one you should have to replace every year.

According to Emily Ratajkowski, white boots are in. She stepped out in a knee-high design paired with a mini dress, and it’s all we’ve been able to think about since. BY FAR’s Stevie 42 boots are as close to the exact style she wore as we could find, but you can pick up some near identical ones from H&M too.

It seems the usual colourways and shapes we’ve come to expect every winter aren’t the be-all and end-all anymore, as a whole host of styles are making their way to the top to sit alongside them. Think: animal prints, snow boots for the city and slopes, and Chelsea silhouettes inspired by wellies.
UGGs are reigning supreme for the second year running with the likes of their Ultra Mini silhouette (set to be a sell-out…again), while & Other Stories have nailed the square toe trend with this pair of suede sock boots. Drool.
Cowboy boots have undoubtedly been one of 2023’s most-worn shoes (need we remind you of the Renaissance and Love On Tour outfits that swathed Instagram for months on end?), and it’s safe to say they’re going nowhere for winter. If they’re a little too ‘brave’ for you, though, knee-high and over-the-knee offerings remain a go-to thanks to Jimmy Choo, GANNI and River Island.
Far less prescriptive than the classic black boots landscape we’ve seen over recent years, hey? Not that there’s anything wrong with a pair of those.
