There’s Colson Whitehead’s The Nickel Boys, which we’ve been recommending to anyone who will listen since we finished it, Girl, Woman, Other by Bernardine Evaristo whose skillful portraying of womanhood had us crying in the work kitchen, and classics like poems by Langston Hughes. Anyone who grew up in the Noughties might recognise Keisha the Sket, an online coming-of-age story written in 2005 by the-then 13-year old Jade LB. It’s being published as a book for the first time and we reckon it’s about to be discovered by a whole new millennial fan base.
