19 Best Corduroy Trousers To Make Like Elsa Hosk & Emily Ratajkowski

Some fabrics can’t help but make you feel nostalgic. Corduroy trousers, for example, remind me of wearing bright red ones as a kid. Now, though, as they’re on the legs of virtually every influencer I follow on Instagram, I’m seeing them in a totally different light – and I’m looking to them to help pull me through the transition to spring.

From Elsa Hosk to Emily Ratajkowski and Hailey Bieber, the street-style elite are re-introducing what was once a silhouette reserved for two groups (babies learning to walk and old men in recliner chairs) as a fashion must-have.

On the runway, Ermanno Scervino shows us how corduroy trousers are, in fact, chic and effortless – especially when worn as a trouser suit – and lend an element of texture your wardrobe likely hasn’t seen in a while.

The key to wearing them, if you’re still not sure? Don’t deviate too far from what you’re used to. If you’re a slim leg or nothing kind of girl, don’t opt for a wide-leg trouser when you’re adding corduroy to your repertoire – because you just won’t wear them. If you’re used to the likes of wool, cotton and linen tailoring, corduroy is probably a big enough step out of your comfort zone, so stick to the shapes you know for a safe bet.

That doesn’t mean you can’t have fun and pack a punch with this trend, though. If you’re looking for a pop of colour to entice that dopamine dressing movement, look to Barbiecore pinks or on-trend reds. You can still make a statement without looking like you’re auditioning to be a children’s TV presenter, promise.
