‘Game Of Thrones’ Prequel ‘Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms’ Gets Premiere Window At HBO

We’re getting a bit more information about the latest Game of Thrones spinoff. During the Warner Bros. Discovery earnings call Friday, CEO David Zaslov revealed the prequel, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight is currently in pre-production and will premiere in “late 2025.”

Ordered to series in April 2023, the prequel is based on George R.R. Martin‘s Dunk & Egg fantasy novellas. Martin and Ira Parker will write and executive produce. House of the Dragon co-creator/exec producer/showrunner Ryan Condal and Vince Gerardis will also executive produce.

“A century before the events of Game of Thrones, two unlikely heroes wandered Westeros… a young, naïve but courageous knight, Ser Duncan the Tall, and his diminutive squire, Egg,” reads the logline. “Set in an age when the Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne and the memory of the last dragon has not yet passed from living memory, great destinies, powerful foes, and dangerous exploits all await these improbable and incomparable friends.”

HBO CEO Casey Bloys revealed in November that production on the latest prequel is scheduled to get underway this spring. Production on Knight of the Seven Kingdoms was shut down in May for the duration of the dual Hollywood strikes.

The prequel series debut will follow the Season 2 premiere of GoT spinoff House of the Dragon in summer 2024.

House of the Dragon is set 172 years before the events of Game of Thrones and tells the story of House Targaryen.

It stars Paddy Considine, Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke, Emma D’Arcy, Steve Toussaint, Eve Best, Fabien Frankel, Sonoya Mizuno and Rhys Ifans.
