The bestsellers are shifting as we step into November; we have the deluxe editions of not one, but two holiday titles making their debut, and a cookbook that would certainly make for excellent gifting. Also new this week is the latest Alex Cross novel from James Patterson, joining Louise Penny’s 21st(!) Inspector Gamache level on the bestseller lists. Theo of Golden and Threshing Day are holding steady on all five lists, where I suspect they’ll remain for awhile.
For the floppity jillionth week in a row, this list continues to lack diversity on many levels. That includes being disproportionately by white authors. Some Indie Bestsellers from diverse voices you should know about are American Hagwon by Min Jin Lee, The Disappearers by Marlon James, and The Nerd Reich: Silicon Valley Fascism and the War on Democracy by Gil Durán.
To get these numbers, we look at The New York Times, both Combined Print & E-Book Fiction and Combined Print & E-Book Nonfiction lists; Amazon Charts, both Fiction and Nonfiction; Publishers Weekly; USA Today; and Indie Bestsellers, Fiction and Nonfiction, both Paperback and Hardcover.
