Each of these Prime Video shows is a 10/10, with every episode a winner, and the second entry on this list may be the best. After years of swimming in the wake of Netflix, HBO, and even Hulu, Amazon Prime Video has managed to establish itself as a place to find and watch solid original programming.
In some cases, it goes beyond solid. There’s a contingent of Prime Video Originals that stand up with the best of many other streaming services. These 10 series run the gamut from ended to currently streaming, to period pieces to comedies, but what they all have in common is that every episode is excellent.
The Narrow Road To The Deep North (2025)
The Narrow Road to the Deep North is an Australian adaptation of Richard Flanagan’s book of the same name, and a harrowing look at the War in the Pacific from a point-of-view we don’t usually get. The five-episode miniseries stars Jacob Elordi as Dorrigo Evans through three periods in his life.
The first is before his deployment in World War II, the second is his imprisonment in a POW camp, and the third is set in the decades after the War and Dorrigo’s release. It’s a brutal and grim series, with little room for heroics beyond the small gestures people under duress can make to one another.
Fleabag (2016-2019)
With a 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, Fleabag is one of the best shows on Prime Video and also one of the best comedy series of the 21st century. The series was created by and stars Phoebe Waller-Bridge as the titular “Fleabag”, an unnamed woman in her 30s who is angry, confused, free-spirited, and a riot.
Over two seasons and 12 perfect episodes, Fleabag falls for a priest, butts heads with her nasty stepmother played brilliantly by Olivia Colman, and breaks the fourth wall to comment to the audience on the ridiculous conversations she often finds herself in. It’s goofy, sweet, and surprisingly heartbreaking at moments.
Fallout (2024-Present)
Prime Video’s Fallout is set in the world of the Fallout video game franchise and is an ongoing post-apocalyptic action-adventure series that uses the games as a backdrop for an original story. 219 years after a cataclysmic event wiped out most of the life on Earth, the survivors have managed a meager existence above the ground, and a plentiful imprisonment below.
Some of the survivors of the event took shelter in Vaults, large underground shelters that offered safety but were just as often used to experiment on the inhabitants. Above the Vaults, society has reformed into a steampunk medieval version of itself with monstrous creatures and people trying to make their way in a new world.
Sneaky Pete (2015-2019)
Sneaky Pete stars Giovanni Ribisi as Marius Josipović, a recently released con man who takes on the identity of his old cellmate, Pete (Ethan Embry), to avoid the criminal gang hunting him. Pete has long been estranged from his family, so Marius easily slips into his life, using the information Pete gave him over years behind bars.
The series deftly balances comedy, drama, and intense thrills that make the series feel more visceral and honest than you might guess simply from reading the show’s premise. Ribisi is in top form as Marius, and the constant twists and turns of the show don’t stop, but never lose you either.
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (2017-2023)
The comedy series The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is another of the great comedy shows on Prime Video that ranks high on the list of all-time comedy series. This period comedy-drama stars Rachel Brosnahan as Miriam “Midge” Maisel, an upper-class Jewish housewife living in NYC in the late 1950s.
After her husband up and leaves her, Midge embarks on a stand-up comedy career, using her own unfortunate situation as fodder for a popular set. She soon becomes one of America’s most popular comics, and the series explores the entertainment industry of the era through the eyes of someone with the spunk and talent to make their own way.
Carrie (2026-Present)
Based on Stephen King’s debut novel, Carrie is the fourth major adaptation of the story, and the first one to turn it into a series. Mike Flanagan, Netflix’s master of the horror miniseries, takes his talents to Prime Video for a frightening, intense show that is extending the Carrie Story with more seasons.
The series stars Summer H. Howell as Carrie White, a young girl with latent psychic powers who has been kept hidden from the outside world by her fundamentalist, cruel mother, resulting in death and destruction for everyone involved. Flanagan brings the story into the modern age with some clever tweaks that keep the themes of the tale sacred.
Loudermilk (2017-2020)
Loudermilk deserves more attention than it ever received. The three-season black comedy stars Ron Livingston as Sam Loudermilk, a recovering alcoholic who works as the leader of a group home in Seattle. His acid-tinged advice to the people in the home is a result of his own struggles to keep his head on straight.
It’s a wonderfully witty and charming series with a mean streak that ensures the proceedings are never too treacly. Livingston is also giving one of his best performances as the bitter, regretful Loudermilk. Will Sasso and Anja Savcic round out the rest of the main cast for a funny, captivating story.
The Boys Presents: Diabolical (2022)
The Boys Presents: Diabolical may prove to be the best format for any The Boys story, better than even Gen V or the upcoming prequel show, Vought Rising. The series is composed of 8 unrelated episodes, all set within the universe of The Boys, each with a different animation and creative team.
These different teams mean that each episode feels distinct in style, tone, and scope, and yet each one is worthwhile. They all have the same sense of juvenile humor and penchant for violence, and they each make the point of how incompatible superheroes are with a realistic world that’s based on actual physics and logic.
Patriot (2015-2018)
Patriot is a comedy-drama spy series that follows an intelligence officer named John Tavner (Michael Dorman) who is given an unusual task. To avert nuclear war with Iran, John is assigned an undercover role within a Milwaukee industrial piping firm as a low-level employee.
It’s a much darker series than you may initially guess, and the quirks and jokes have a mean bite to them. If that isn’t a turn-off, Patriot is a twisty, clever spy series that takes a hard look into American foreign policy and how that affects the home front. It’s a highly unique show and worth watching for that alone.
Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2024-Present)
The television version of the 20005 film turns things on their heads. Instead of being about a married couple who discovers that the other one is a spy for a rival organization, Prime Video’s Mr. & Mrs. Smith features Maya Erskine and Donald Glover as two spies who go undercover as a married couple: Jane and John Smith.
Though they don’t know one another when they start their mission, the pair eventually develop a real attraction that threatens their job. It’s a smart, sharply written series with excellent action and some of the best romantic chemistry you will find on Prime Video. The series is set to be an anthology, so season 3 is going to introduce a new couple as the eponymous Mr. and Mrs. Smith.
