Christopher Nolan’s long list of hit movies has made him a director whose new projects see audiences flock to theaters like only few can do, as seen by the huge number of fully sold-out The Odyssey screenings around the world. The fantasy epic has been breaking records right from its theatrical premiere, and less than a week later, its box office run seems to be one for the ages for Nolan. For a director that has helmed some of the best movies of all time, The Odyssey is proving itself one of Nolan’s best performers, and that continues with a major record.
The Odyssey has officially become the fastest movie to enter Letterboxd‘s One Million Watched Club, doing so in only six days. The movie was released in theaters on July 17 in the United States, though it opened a couple of days earlier, on July 15, in certain international markets, allowing this new record to be broken this Monday, July 20. The previous fastest movie to enter Letterboxd’s One Million Watched Club was Greta Gerwig’s Barbie, which opened on the same day as Nolan’s Oppenheimer. Barbie earned the top spot in 12 days — the first to do it in under a month.
