Following the success of the Final Fantasy VII Remake, fans are eager to learn when the final installment of the trilogy will be released. With the first installment, Final Fantasy VII Remake, releasing in 2020, and its sequel, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, launching in 2024, it has officially been two years since Square Enix gifted fans with the modern-day remake of the beloved 1997 title.
Gaining critical acclaim and receiving commercial success, with praise for its gameplay, narrative, and music, Final Fantasy VII Remake is set to conclude with Part 3, but fans are currently unsure when they can expect to see the trilogy come to an end.
Although Square Enix is yet to announce that all-important release date, one fan thinks that Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 could indeed launch as early as 2027, despite Square Enix’s financial reports suggesting otherwise.
It was over on r/FFVIIRemake that one fan gave us a detailed analysis of Square Enix’s most recent financial report, saying, “People are worried FF7R Part 3 will not release in the Fiscal Year (starting April 1st, 2027) due to Part 3 being absent from Square Enix’s recently released financial reports & financial forecast. Maximilian Dood, among other creators, uploaded videos on the topic.”
However, it seems as though knowing how financial reports actually reveals that fans do not need to worry, as Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 could still be on track for a 2027 launch. With the Reddit user going into a deep dive of the recent financial report, they were kind enough to share a summary at the end, which reads, “Square Enix can legally omit FF7R Part 3 from the financial report/forecast, as long as the expected revenue is realistic and includes the earnings from everything including unrevealed titles. Which means it is entirely possible for Part 3 to be released within this Fiscal Year (BEFORE March 31st, 2027). Keyword; possible. Not guaranteed!”
Of course, it is worth taking this information with a pinch of salt, with even the Reddit user claiming that it is just a possibility as opposed to an outright claim. However, that did not stop FFVII fans from taking to the comments with their thoughts on the potential launch window.
“There is literally no reason to have drama over a release date for something which hasn’t even been officially announced yet,” the top comment read, which I cannot help but agree with. However, another user feels as though a release window announcement will be a bittersweet moment, sharing, “Personally, I am almost sad that it’s coming out soon, because that means this will all end. Played FF7 OG when it came out, was hyped out of my mind from 2015. I have been on the journey for so long and have loved every minute of it. It will be an amazing game, but the end of the journey will be bittersweet.”
With both the original Final Fantasy VII and the more recent Final Fantasy VII Remake being such beloved titles, it is no wonder that fans are eager to see how the story will end. Hopefully, Square Enix will put us out of our misery soon.
