As Pokémon prepares to enter its tenth generation with Pokémon Winds & Waves, the Pokémon Company has announced a surprise companion adventure. Winds & Waves takes the franchise to a lush new island setting, with an entire new generation of Pokémon to meet, befriend, and train.
The upcoming game was revealed on the franchise’s 30-year Pokémon Day anniversary back in February. Since then, more information has been trickling in, including more about the location and the game’s adorable starters.
Now, the Pokémon Company has announced that it will be launching another new adventure for fans of a very different nature than Winds & Waves. The new game will be a “fan experience,” created in collaboration with Japanese entertainment studio Moment Factory and Real Estate giant Mitsui Fudosan.
To celebrate Moment Factory’s and Mitsui Fudosan’s new partnership, the duo has teamed up with the Pokémon Company to develop a special interactive exhibit for franchise fans.
Not much has been revealed yet about the nature of the experience or where it will be held. What we do know is that the collab will be an immersive, interactive exhibit that will debut in Europe in 2027, and will then go on to tour the world.
According to a press release shared on the Moment Factory website, the exhibit will “faithfully bring Pokémon to life by bringing fans together in the real world and allowing them to step into the role of a Trainer in unique ways.” There are no further details about what this actually means, but fans can expect something big and exciting, considering the duo’s previous projects.
As the press release notes, Mitsui Fudosan has experience creating “large-scale destinations and real-world experiences.” Moment Factory similarly worked on impressive displays, including a spectacular Light Cycles display at the Kyoto Botanical Garden. The company has also collaborated with a wide and impressively diverse list of names to design special fan experiences for the likes of Disney, Universal Studios, TWICE, and Billie Eilish.
With these two companies involved in the fan experience, we can expect it to be huge, spectacular, and bursting with colorful light. It might not be a new game announcement, but this special immersive exhibit is certainly worth looking forward to.
The 2027 reveal date may also indicate that the show will go live around the same time as the release of Pokémon Winds & Waves, to promote the game.
