Should General Hospital’s Mob Be Abandoned? Fans Have Spoken

This weigh-in comes after Sonny and Jason decided to leave the mob and get on better paths. This also puts the two arcs in completely new directions and offers a new backdrop.

General Hospital fans give their verdict on the mob’s future

Soap Opera Digest conducted a poll for fans to learn how much space they want the mob storyline to occupy in General Hospital. Plus, it helped to learn whether they would love to see mob plotlines or want it entirely eradicated from the show. The poll featured four options to choose from. The majority of the votes went to fans wanting the mob story to be in the background and not on center stage.

29.5% of fans wanted the makers to put an end to the mob stories for good as they have savored those storylines enough in the past. 27.86% of fans don’t want the mob stories to disappear entirely but pop in for a limited time. For example, bringing back certain interesting mob characters like Johnny Zacchara or Julian Jerome to cause some trouble and make the storyline interesting. 10.84% of voters believe that these storylines shouldn’t go away and should remain a central part of the show.

At present, Jason and Sonny have both bid adieu to their dangerous occuption. For now, Jason is focusing on being a good role model to his son. Whereas Sonny is dealing with Sidwell’s legitimate businesses after the latter was sent to prison. Sonny’s decision to leave the mob came after Jason. In the August 6 episode, he informed his son Dante Falconeri about his decision, which left him relieved. This is because Dante has been worried about his father’s dangerous lifestyle for a long time.
