If you’re a huge Steam hardware fan, odds are you’re waiting to hear more about the next coming of the Steam Machines. Even if you have no interest in buying them, it’s fascinating to see Valve do its thing and launch hardware amid all the competition, as they remain a true wild card in this rollercoaster of an industry.
That said, following Valve announcements can be a theme park ride in and of itself. We don’t have a ton of info to go off of, and before we know it, Valve could launch the Steam Machine out of nowhere.
Thanks to new information already being discussed on Reddit, the Steam Machine launch window may have narrowed a bit. Any info on the Steam Machine could be useful, given Valve’s general quiet demeanor.
The Steam Hardware Updates social media account claims that Valve is preparing to launch the Steam Machine line imminently, as soon as this month. This lines up with previous leaks regarding the Steam Machine, but as is the case with anything Valve-related, things could change at any time.
At the current moment, the Steam Machine announcement could happen as early as June 23, with reservations kicking off on June 30, right before July hits.
Here’s the breakdown – “I’d say an announcement Tuesday, June 23 at 10AM PT, and reservations Tuesday, June 30 at 10AM PT. To quote exactly what my source said: “They’re allowed to post videos after June 23. Going off of the Steam Controller’s announcement, the review videos were put out on the same day as the announcement. Might be worth it to check here June 22-23, if not then another day between June 22 and July 1, but this is what would make most sense considering the embargo.”
Fans are already speculating on the price, given the specifications and the Steam Controller launch: “$900 with a controller is my prediction. No idea on the non base model. I think they will make a more attractive price point for the base model.”
Another fan is hopeful: “I’m actually surprised it’s still coming out given the component and RAM prices are still steadily rising. Hope these leaks are true, and really hope it’s somewhat affordable too.”
If you want a Steam Machine, the time to start saving is now. It looks like this rig could be $1000 minimum, especially given the current state of the hardware industry and supply chain issues.
If you’re a Steam fan and don’t miss out on any new hardware launches, you’re in for an expensive year. Between the Seam Machine, Steam Controller, and Steam Frame, it’s going to be a big commitment.
