It’s been an absurdly long time since The Elder Scrolls 6 was first announced back in 2018, and it still doesn’t seem like we’ll be getting our hands on the game anytime soon. When it does eventually release, TES6 will have some seriously high expectations to meet among players given the extensive and drawn-out wait.
And as you might expect, many Elder Scrolls gamers have grown restless over these past eight years, and have taken to modding as a form of catharsis. One such fan has taken on one of the most ambitious Elder Scrolls mod projects to date, recreating the beloved Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind in a completely unexpected new engine, remaking the classic in none other than FromSoftware’s iconic Elden Ring (via YouTube).
Thanks to modder InfernoPlus, one project we thought was next to impossible has seen some significant progress in the past few months. The affectionately titled “Elden Scrolls” mod is a huge undertaking, recreating the beloved Morrowind in Elden Ring‘s engine as a faithful recreation of the original game. While the mod is still a work in progress, a newly released update on YouTube shows off some seriously impressive gameplay footage.
In this build of the Morrowind Elden Ring remake, you can watch InfernoPlus embarking on various Morrowind quests from the infamous Drarayne Thelas rat quest to Eggmining and beyond. The new video also showcases some of the anticipated features fans thought might be impossible, such as Persuasion mechanics, pickpocketing, and integrating the massive amount of dialogue. Check out the update video below:
While The Elden Scrolls mod is still unplayable for general audiences at the moment, this recent update is very promising and shows the project in a “mostly playable” state, estimated at about 80% complete. That remaining 20% could take some time, but will be well worth the wait, and is likely to arrive well before we get The Elder Scrolls 6. You can follow progress on The Elden Scrolls mod here on X or Discord.
It’s a little hard to believe we’re about to get a full Morrowind remake in Elden Ring before we get our hands on The Elder Scrolls 6. Development on TES6 has been ongoing for years, and even recent interviews with Bethesda head honcho Todd Howard don’t offer any promising signs that it’s going to be released anytime soon.
That said, hype for The Elder Scrolls 6 continues to build as time passes, and fans have begun speculating over when we might see some additional footage, an official trailer, or simply some additional info on where the game is set, though the leading theories still point to Hammerfell. At the end of the day, this drawn-out wait has inspired some absolutely incredible fan-created projects such as The Elden Scrolls mod from InfernoPlus.
