Song Kang and Lee Jun-young are already huge stars on their own, but paired, well, that’s a K-Drama I’m immediately excited for. Netflix Original series Four Hands, Two Sonatas is bringing the duo together in a coming-of-age series coming to the streamer August 29, 2026.
Set at an elite arts high school for musical prodigies, the drama follows two young pianists whose lives become deeply intertwined through their shared passion for the keys, navigating the tumultuous waters of friendship, rivalry, and growth. While the teaser trailer offered a first glimpse into the intense musical rivalry and complex dynamic between the two students—it’s important to note that the series is a bromance, not a BL. Yeah, that teaser trailer had us fooled too.
The series is directed by Park Hyeon Seok and written by Shin Yi Won. While we know our leads and their love interest, Hong Jae-In, played by Jang Gyu-Ri, the rest of the cast has yet to be announced. More information is on the way as we get closer to the release date, but here is what we know so far.
What is Four Hands Two Sonatas about?

Four Hands Two Sonatas is a new series centered on a story of friendship, love, competition, and growth of young people who meet at an elite Korea Arts High School. The school is filled with extremely talented students in the field of music, which is the perfect setting for two pianists with drastically different personalities.
On one side, there is the privileged Kang Bi-O (Song Kang) who studies the piano with remarkable but hard-earned talent. A perfectionist who never misses placing first in academics and music. It’s why he is the favorite to sweep the world’s top three piano competitions. But when he suddenly faces rival Choi Jeong-Yo (Lee Jun-Young), his music, his place, and his sense of self start to come under pressure.
And on the other side, there is Choi Jeong-Yo, a piano prodigy. He has lived with a blind eye towards his talents, because unlike Bi-O, he wasn’t born with a silver spoon. When he winds up at the same school as Bi-O, it’s not a first encounter for Jeong-yo. Having admired Bi-O for some time, the rivalry that spirals is filled with emotion.
