Urban Games’ Curated Mods Program Fuels Community Creativity

Urban Games’ Curated Mods Program Fuels Community Creativity

Modding is one of the cornerstones of PC gaming, and for the Transport Fever series, it’s been the heart of what the game’s community does. Ahead of its launch later this year, Urban Games announced that Transport Fever 3 will feature a Curated Mods Program that gives modders in the genre early access to the game in order to create developer-supported mods available on launch day.

The Curated Mods Program is open to applicants. Additionally, Urban Games also announced that the first of these mods is already being tested in-game as part of Urban Games’ closed beta program, with the latest PC having just concluded.

This news also comes with the announcement of a confidential closed beta test for consoles starting soon, with a focus on stability and performance.

What is the Curated Mods Program for Transporter 3?

The Curated Mods Program will allow the “best modders” —as picked by Urban Games— to create mods in close collaboration with the Urban Games development team. Transport Fever 3 aims to expand on the existing modding community the franchise has built, particularly on the foundation laid by the 15,000 individual mods available for Transport Fever 2 on Steam Workshop.

This time, Urban Games is ensuring that players can tailor their experience from day one. Currently, Urban Games has been working closely with a small team of modders in the Curated Mods Program since early 2026 to build out the community. It’s not just PC getting mods either. There will be a much bigger selection of mods for consoles, thanks to Transport Fever 3’s fully automated mod-approval system on consoles.

The Curated Mods Program participants receive dedicated support, early access to the game, and the chance to influence the final stage of modding-tool development through their feedback. The most important part here, though, is that Urban Games is paying for their work through a financial grant, and their mods will be specially marked in-game so that they’re identifiable for the community.

Additionally, Urban Games will also continue the Curated Mods Program after release. The Curated Mods Program is not just focused on new vehicles and assets, but also on script-mods, savegames, and even localizations.

How to apply for the Curated Mods Program:

The exact specifications and application form can be found here.

What is the release date?

Transport Fever 3 will release simultaneously for PC (Windows, Mac, Linux), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. However, Urban Games has not shared a release date, but it will be released sometime in 2026.
