Burger King Slammed After Employee Dons Blackface Costume

A Burger King employee took their Halloween costume way too far as they dressed up in blackface to work their shift. They were then caught at the drive-thru window, and it went viral for its racist nature. So, how is the fast food chain reacting? Keep reading for more details.

A Halloween Gone Wrong

Dressing up for Halloween can be a lot of fun, and it is a treat if your job allows you to do so. Some places have rules as to what can be worn and what is off limits. It seems that Burger King may have missed that memo, as an employee came to work dressed in blackface. Unfortunately, whoever was their shift leader likely did not see the problem with the costume. They let them work the drive-thru, where they were called out by a customer. The patron wanted to let them know that this was completely wrong.

However, the employee, who was white but whose face was painted completely black, stated it was okay “as long as you have a good heart.” After being filmed and going viral for her behavior and tasteless costume, the fast food chain is under fire. They are now clapping back, claiming that they do not align with this behavior at all. Moreover, the employee is being spoken to, and Burger King had this to say:

Bringing Politics Into It

Those who saw what happened began to make it a political issue. They did not see how offensive it could be to potential patrons just coming to enjoy a meal. However, one person noted that the manager on duty was African-American and allegedly had no problem with the costume. Once that was stated, several people were livid:

  • YOU LIVE IN THE PAST IF YOU THINK IT WAS ACCEPTABLE. THE MANAGER KNEW WHAT IT MEANT AND SHOULD BE FIRED FOR PUTTING A VULNERABLE PERSON IN THAT SITUATIPN.
  • That’s totally what I’d say as well…even worse her co workers and boss knew better ..fire them all for playing stupid games at work .

Are you shocked by what happened at Burger King, and finally, do you think that the employee should be fired? Or do you think that the manager who let her on the floor should be the one in trouble? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
